IOCs & Detection

Antino Backdoor Uses Microsoft 365 for C2

Cisco Talos discovered Antino, a Rust-compiled Windows backdoor used by China-nexus threat actor UAT-11587 targeting government and policy organizations across Taiwan, India, Philippines, Cambodia, Pakistan, Thailand, and Myanmar. The backdoor operates exclusively through Microsoft 365, using Microsoft Graph to interact with Outlook and OneDrive for command and control. It supports host reconnaissance, shell and PowerShell execution, file transfer, in-memory shellcode loading, and persistence.

Linux Implants Mimic Asian Mail Security Products

Rapid7 discovered BPFdoor and Rekoobe variants mimicking South Korea's SpamSniper email security software, plus a new backdoor called AVERAT masquerading as Taiwan's ShareTech Information appliances. The malware copies legitimate software's PID files, system services, and network traffic patterns. BPFdoor continues using passive Berkeley Packet Filtering activation via specific bytes in HTTPS requests and can propagate via ICMP pings.
