AI Business Brief - February 14, 2026

Lead Story

China's AI Labs Are Shipping Fast, and the Competition Benefits You

Three major Chinese tech companies released new AI models this week. Alibaba unveiled RynnBrain, a robotics AI that can identify objects, count them, and perform multi-step physical tasks. ByteDance launched Seedance 2.0, a video generation model that produces polished, realistic video from text prompts. And Kuaishou released Kling 3.0, another video generator with up to 15-second clips and built-in audio.

These aren't research papers. These are usable tools. Seedance 2.0 is already being used by creative agencies to produce AI-generated ad content. One Stockholm-based agency owner said the jump from 2023 to now is "nothing short of exceptional," going from choppy, textureless clips to production-ready video on the first try. That said, ByteDance already had to suspend a voice-cloning feature after consent concerns, a reminder that these tools move faster than the guardrails around them.

What this means for you: The direct benefit is pricing pressure. Every credible competitor to OpenAI's Sora and Google's video tools pushes prices down and quality up across the board. If you produce marketing content, training videos, or social media for your business, video generation tools are crossing from "novelty" to "useful" right now. You don't need to pick a winner yet, but start experimenting. Try Kling or Seedance alongside Sora and compare results for your specific use case. The businesses that learn to produce video content with AI will have a massive cost advantage over those still paying $2,000-5,000 per professionally produced clip. (CNBC)

Quick Wins

  1. Test an AI video generator for your next social post. Pick one product or service your business offers. Write a one-sentence description and feed it into a free-tier video generation tool (Kling, Pika, or Runway all have free options). Compare the output to what you'd normally pay a freelancer to produce. Even if it's not perfect, you'll learn what's possible and where these tools fall short for your specific needs.

  2. Update your iPhone today. Apple pushed an emergency security update this week after an "extremely sophisticated" spyware attack. This isn't optional. If you or your team use iPhones for business, install the update now. Go to Settings > General > Software Update. Takes two minutes. (Inc.)

Outlook

This week's theme is competition driving progress. Chinese AI labs are shipping video and robotics models that directly challenge U.S. incumbents, which means better tools and lower prices for everyone who uses them. Meanwhile, Airbnb's AI expansion shows that conversational interfaces are replacing traditional search and support across industries. If your business has a search function or a support queue, both are about to change. Watch for video generation pricing to drop significantly over the next few months as Seedance, Kling, and Sora compete for creators.
